A Greyhounds’ Blog

Hi. My name is Gracie and I am 6 years young. My Mom wanted me to write this since she felt it would be best described from a “GREYT” prospective.

My Mom adopted me in February of 2009. She told me she always loved the regal stance and peaceful demeanor of the greyhounds she had met. Unfortunately Mom had to say goodbye to two previous hounds (Basenji’s) at the same time due to age and illness. It broke her heart and she was so very sad. They were rescues too.

While her heart healed she began to consider fulfilling her dream of having a greyhound. She searched greyhound rescue groups for hours every night…and decided to look seriously at Greyhound Adoption League of Texas. She read lots and lots of athlete ads and looked at the pictures to consider a happy match on paper and in the soul of a greyhound.

My Mom first picked me to go visit at my Foster Mommy’s house, Lisa B. She even cut out my pictures and taped them up to look at every day until we met. She wanted to be sure she could make me happy and we would be a good match.

It was love at first sight. She took me home, let me keep my name of Gracie and stayed in touch with the Foster Mommy so she would know everything was good. Foster Mommy even came and had a visit! I showed her all my new toys, my couch, my doggie beds, etc. I have even been to a Rehab/Nursing Home to visit the patients there. They loved me and after about two hours, I had to go home and take a nap. I love people so much and never meet a stranger. I love my Mom and she loves me too.

We are special together! I hope you liked my story. “ROO!”

Outdoor Adventures in Collin County

Collin County Jogging Trail

We’ve come to know “cabin fever” much too well during this summer of extreme heat.  Driving to a client’s home most recently, I observed all that Collin County (Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Plano and Richardson) has to offer in outdoor recreation.

Needless to say, the recent glimpse of cooler weather  brings to mind the welcome of  outdoor pleasures once again. Nature provides a comfort and a relaxing peace of mind. It’s a time to be “mindless” of events in daily life.

Another great feature of Collin County’s outdoor recreation are the subdivisions located close to the multitude of trails, parks, nature preserves and wildlife sanctuaries.  A recent first time homebuyer  was excited to find a home located  close to a beautiful local park and nature preserve.

Visit The Collin County Trails page for more information on all that Collin County has to offer.

Anything Is Possible

Dream Home

Some clients of mine recently listed their home in the suburbs to move closer to their workplace. After diligent research and communication on the overall best approach, their current home was listed and our first contract was executed within 18 days. By planning a realistic market analysis in our approach for list price and strategic marketing avenues, we were set for a successful sale.  Thankfully we had already started our search for their next home in advance.

Moving in closer to the hub of the city, my clients were still longing for the perfect home and a still quiet atmosphere of community. After looking at several homes, we went to view a property listed on MLS without any posting of pictures. My gut feeling told me from the description that this might be “the one”. Although it was an older property, the upgrades and description of the property sounded perfect.   Upon viewing the home located in the city on a larger lot, naturistic in terrain coupled with a unique and dynamic floor plan. Halfway through the home…..they knew this was “the one”.

We wrote a slightly over list price offer to be sure of getting this unique property that my clients were eager to call home. Upon submitting the offer, we were informed another contract was in first position. Somewhat disheartened, we requested the offer remain in place as a backup offer. With positive energy and positive thoughts……………….we received a phone call a few days later telling us we were now in first position under contract. Needless to say, we were elated!

So from inception of this journey, we were able to list a home, get an offer in 18 days, and close on a dream home in a little over two weeks. What’s the moral of this story? Dreams can come true regardless of external circumstances of the economy. It’s in a mindset and a belief system.  When you have a team, a REALTOR® and clients working together for a common goal, great things happen in their own time for the best outcome.
